Therefore, unlike other online services, MeeTok strives to write its privacy policy and related documents in easy-to-understand terms, enabling users to read and fully comprehend our policies.

2. When This Privacy Policy Applies

This privacy policy applies to all websites, apps, events, and other services operated under the MeeTok brand name. For ease of understanding, these are collectively referred to as ‘services’ in this privacy policy. Some services may require separate privacy policies; in such cases, the specific privacy policy of that service will apply instead of this one.

3. Information Collection

Without information about users such as basic profile details or preferred partner types, it is challenging to recommend meaningful matches. Additionally, MeeTok collects information about your use of MeeTok services, such as access logs, data received from third parties when accessing MeeTok through social media accounts, or uploading social media information to a MeeTok profile.

Information Provided by Users

When using MeeTok services, users may provide certain information, such as:

Information Provided by Third Parties

Apart from information provided by users, MeeTok may collect user information from third parties:

Information Generated or Automatically Collected When Using Services

Technical data is generated about how users use features, the devices they used to access services, etc. The details are as follows:

Some web browsers (including Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome) have a “Do Not Track” (DNT) feature that informs websites of the user’s preference against tracking their online activities. When a website responds to a DNT signal, the browser can prevent the collection of certain information. Not all browsers offer a DNT option, and DNT signals are not yet uniform. Therefore, like most companies, MeeTok currently does not respond to DNT signals.

Some member information is shared with service providers, partners supporting MeeTok’s operations, specific situations to other Hyperspirit affiliates, and occasionally law enforcement. Detailed information sharing mechanisms are outlined below.

Other Members

When voluntarily making information public through services, it becomes accessible to other members. Users should carefully consider the exposure of personal information and confirm the appropriateness of shared content visibility.

Which parts of the profile or the scope of certain content visibility depends on user settings.

Strict qualification processes are followed before engaging any service providers or partners, and they must adhere to confidentiality obligations.

Sharing Features

Sharing features enable users to share profiles with others outside MeeTok, allowing for user profiles to be shared externally.

Business Transactions

In cases of mergers, sales, acquisitions, share divestments, restructuring, reorganizations, dissolutions, bankruptcies, or other changes in ownership/control, user information might be transferred.

Law Enforcement (as legally required)

MeeTok may disclose user information to comply with legal procedures like court orders, subpoenas, government investigations, law enforcement requests, supporting crime prevention or detection, or when it is reasonably necessary to protect any person’s safety while complying with applicable laws.

Enforcing Legal Rights

Sharing information is possible when:

Consent and Requests

MeeTok may seek user consent for third-party information sharing, detailing the reasons specifically.

In all scenarios, MeeTok uses and shares non-personal information, hashed information that is not human-readable, and combination data, where necessary. This information may assist in developing and providing targeted adverts, analyzing ad performance, engaging in lawful data sharing, and aiding in operational measures.

6. International Data Transfers

Information sharing extends to cross-border transfers, including to the US and other regions with different data processing laws. Whenever MeeTok transfers personal data outside of the EEA, UK, Switzerland, or locations deemed adequately protective by the European Commission or equivalent authorities, MeeTok uses standard contractual clauses or other appropriate transfer mechanisms.

7. User Rights and Choices

MeeTok ensures users control their information, offering various options and tools to manage user data effectively.

Access and Update Tools in the Service

Tools and account settings allow users to access, modify, and delete provided or directly associated information. For further assistance, users can contact customer support.

Device Permissions

Mobile platforms may enable users to control permissions for accessing contacts, photo services, location services, push notifications, ad identifiers, and more. Users can configure device settings to allow or reject such information. Adjusting these settings might affect service functionality.

App Deletion

Users can uninstall MeeTok following standard deletion processes to stop all information collection. Note that uninstalling the app does not delete accounts. To delete an account, users must use the account deletion function.

Account Deletion

Users can delete their accounts directly through the MeeTok app or website.

Depending on the user’s residence, additional rights may include:

Access

Users may request copies of personal data held by MeeTok and, in some cases, receive it in a machine-readable format.

8. Data Retention Duration

MeeTok retains personal data for as long as it deems it necessary for legitimate business purposes and as permitted by relevant laws. Users can deactivate their accounts if they wish to stop using the service, after which profiles will no longer be displayed to other members. Accounts inactive for two years will be automatically deleted. Upon account deletion, user data is also deleted, except for certain retained information for specific purposes.

  1. For member safety and security, a safety hold period of 3 months after account deletion or 1 year after account suspension is implemented, during which user information is kept for investigating illegal or harmful activities. MeeTok holds this information based on the necessity to protect itself and third parties’ rights.
  2. Post safety hold, MeeTok retains minimal data for the following purposes:
    • Compliance with legal data retention obligations, like taxes and accounting, for transaction data up to 10 years, credit card information for specific contestation periods, and traffic logs for 1 year. Consent records user-provided must also be retained for up to 5 years.
    • Protecting legitimate interests, such as supporting customer support decisions, rights enhancement, litigation defense, and accurate financial reporting while keeping historical account data for 3 years post-account deletion. Profile data in anticipation of potential legal claims is retained for up to 1 year. Information about bad actors flagged to prevent new account creation remains until it’s no longer necessary.
    • Addressing unresolved or potential issues, litigation, or disputes allows MeeTok to retain information as necessary.

9. No Use by Minors

MeeTok is exclusively for users aged 18 and over, prohibiting anyone under 18 from using the service. If encountering a suspected underage member, please use the reporting feature in the MeeTok app.

10. Job Applicants, Contractors, and Supplier Representatives

MeeTok processes personal data of job applicants, contractors, and vendor representatives to manage recruitment processes and vendor services. Specific conditions outlined in this privacy policy for personal data processing apply, including responsible parties, data transfers, access rights, and queries. Applicants may vary based on the recruitment position but generally include provided details in applications, career and education information, shared references, and contacts. MeeTok uses this data to support hiring processes and work contracts. Contractors' and vendors’ data helps manage relationships and legal defense. Personal data is shared with service providers and Hyperspirit Inc. affiliates supporting recruitment and data operations and retained based on necessary periods according to their purposes.

11. Changes to the Privacy Policy

MeeTok seeks to continuously assist users in forming meaningful connections and provide updates on data usage through innovative methods. Consequently, this privacy policy may change over time. Users will be notified in advance, allowing sufficient time to review any significant changes before implementation.
